The template name ill stands for InterLanguage Link. It displays a link to an English-language Wikipedia article (typically a red link) followed by a link to a corresponding article in a non-English Wikipedia.
Parameters
The template accepts two or three unnamed parameters:
- (required) interwiki language code, i.e. fr, bg, no, nl, etc. (see List of Wikipedias)
- (required) name of article in English-language Wikipedia
- (optional) name of article in non-English Wikipedia, if different than above
Usage
When article names would be the same in English and foreign language Wikipedia:
- Usage:
{{ill|no|Torun Lian}}
- Result: Torun Lian (no)
When article names would be different in English and foreign language Wikipedia:
- Usage:
{{ill|bg|Parlichevo|Пърличево}}
- Result: Parlichevo (bg)
Piped links
In some cases the English Wikipedia might use a piped link:
- Example:
[[Rangel, Angola|Rangel]]
- Result: Rangel
The template can create the same link shown above by using the {{!}} template:
